1. What do those who support same-sex relationships say was the actual sin of Sodom and Gomorrah in Genesis 19?
They would say that the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah were abusive relationships and inhospitality, with inhospitality being the most grievous sin, based on Ezekiel 16:49.
2. What is the argument against Leviticus usually voiced by those who support homosexuality? What is the problem with this argument?
They say that we pick and choose which of the Levitical laws we follow and which are not relevant for us today. They themselves actually do the same thing, just with different passages.
3. What does the speaker say is the most important thing that we need to learn from Leviticus?
We need to learn that God has a clear prohibition against certain types of sexual relationships.

Discuss It

  1. In your own words, explain why we follow some of the Old Testament laws and don’t follow others. How would you explain this to someone who accuses evangelical Christians of picking and choosing which Old Testament laws to follow?
  2. Describe some things you have read or conversations you have had with those who believe the Bible does not prohibit same-sex relationships. What Scripture and argument did you find that they use?

Apply It

  1. Do a search online for topics like “biblical homosexuality” and the like, to find out what are some of the trending conversations about this subject. Make a list of the common arguments used.
