According to 1 Tim 3:4-5, if a man manages his own household well, he may be good at managing in the larger sphere, namely managing the church.
- Why do you think that modeling the truth is so important to the elders’ exercise of authority?
- What are the possible problems to result when the congregation does not recognize or honor the elders, or the leader of a particular ministry?
- How can you recognize/honor an elder(s) who has most impacted you as a shepherd? What would stop you from doing it?
- Study 1 Tim 5:17-18 and read a variety of commentaries on this passage. How do you know whether this passage is speaking of financial remuneration?
