Contemplate these questions, then click on each question to see the answer.
1. What dangers does Paul address in Acts 20?
There would be false teachers arising among them, even from among the existing elders, teaching different things in order to draw others after them.
2. How do Paul’s words to Timothy and also to Titus demonstrate that this warning was accurate?
Paul later refers to false teachers in both of his letters to Timothy and Titus. The “characteristic” of “apt to teach” is important to combat all false teaching.
3. How are Paul’s words to Timothy on the qualifications of elders to be applied differently than his words on the same subject to Titus?
In 1 Timothy, characteristics listed are for existing elders to evaluate themselves. In Titus, the list is present to determine who is qualified to become an elder.
